BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Beer sales of Georgian Natakhtari Beer Company are increased by 15-18 percent since the beginning of the year compared to the same period of the last year, Trend reports via Georgian media.

But despite the increase in sales, the price of raw materials has fallen due to the depreciation of the lari.

"Sales are growing. We have a 15-18 percent increase since the beginning of the year compared to the same period of the last year, but the cost has reduced or we cannot go beyond the planned value, because the products are more expensive due to the devaluation of lari. Consequently, we cannot make the product more expensive than inflation. All this is positively reflected in the quantity, but we cannot follow the financial parameters we had at the price", said Corporate Director of the company Nikoloz Khundzakishvili.

According to the National Statistics Office, more than $5 million worth of beer was exported from the country last year, the best figure for recent years.

Beer exports from Georgia are follows:

2017 - $3.89 million - 4,636 tons
2018 - $ 4.36 million - 4,351 tons
2019 - $3.48 million - 4,203 tons
2020 - $5.05 million - 5,492 tons
2021 (5 months) - $1.14 million - 1,333 tons

As of May 2021, beer was exported from Georgia to more than 30 countries. The main export markets for Georgia are China, Russia, and Azerbaijan.
