Iran boosts export of various plants

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14

The export of Iran's various plants, including ornamental, industrial and herbal plants, increased by 58 percent in terms of volume during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mahmoud Bazari said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

The official emphasized that 49,000 tons of products worth more than $49 million were exported within the mentioned period.

Bazari added that 52 tons of saffron worth $26 million were exported in three months. This accounted for 53 percent of total exports in this sector.

“In addition, 4,000 tons of tea worth $4 million were exported over the 3 months of the current Iranian year. Compared to the same period last Iranian year, tea exports increased by 728 percent in terms of value and 642 percent in terms of volume,” he said.

According to Bazari, these products were mainly exported to China, the UAE, Spain, Pakistan, Iraq and Germany.

As reported, Iran exported 30 million tons of goods worth $10.7 billion in three months of the current Iranian year. The exports increased by 69 percent in terms of value and 38 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
