Iran unveils details of its trade turnover via Astara customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 23

In total, 1.22 million tons of goods worth about $361 million were exported through the customs of Astara County in Gilan Province (northern Iran), during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), the Director General of Astara Customs Office, Karim Rasouli told Trend.

Rasouli noted that the exports increased by 52.5 percent in terms of value and 206 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

"Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, 398,000 tons of goods worth $236 million were exported through the Astara customs," he added.

The director general also said that 114,000 tons of goods worth about $82.9 million were imported through Astara customs in 6 months, which is a decrease of 17.8 percent in terms of value and 19.8 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran’s imports through Astara customs amounted to 142 million tons worth $101 million, Rasouli stressed.

According to him, about 152,000 tons of goods worth $694 million were transited through Astara customs in six months, which is an increase of 260 percent in terms of value and 273 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 40,500 tons worth $193 million in the same period last Iranian year.
