Iran looking to increase trade with Turkmenistan

Iran is increasing trade with Turkmenistan despite closure of borders caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, having reached good amount levels of both export and import during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021), Iran Customs Administration spokesman Rohullah Latifi told Trend.

Iran's imports from Turkmenistan during this period was was 29.9 tons valued for $21.4 million while in the preceding year it was 17.9 tons (valued $5.5 million), Latifi noted.

Iran's export to Turkmenistan in the first six months of the current Iranian year experienced a 82-percent growth, reaching 707.1 tons valued for $144.9 million, while the figure stood at 225.5 tons (valued for $50.3 million) in 2020 and 479.2 tons valued $135.9 million in 2019.

The level of trade transactions between the two countries in the current Iranian year was $166.3 million and had a 66=percent increase compared to preceding Iranian year.
