Kazakhstan increases trade turnover with three largest CIS partners

The overall volume of trade between Kazakhstan and the CIS countries amounted to $32.8 billion at the end of 2021, which is 30.1 percent more than in 2020 ($25.2 billion), Trend reports citing the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During this period, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan became the largest trading partners of Kazakhstan among the CIS countries.

Thus, following the results of 2021, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia totaled $24.2 billion, which is 29.1 percent more than in 2020 ($18.7 billion). The share of Russia in the total volume of Kazakhstan's trade increased to 23 percent (21.7 percent - in 2020).

Exports from Kazakhstan to Russia for 12 months reached $6.9 billion, an increase of 38.1 percent compared to 2020 ($5 billion), while imports were $17.3 billion, an increase of 25.8 percent compared to 2020 ($13.7 billion).

In second place is Uzbekistan with a bilateral trade volume of $3.9 billion, which is 33.09 percent more than in 2020 ($2.9 billion).

Exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan amounted to $2.8 billion ($2.1 billion - in 2020), while imports accounted for $1.05 billion ($793.02 million - in 2020).

The volume of bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan totaled $1.1 billion, an increase of 46.8 percent in comparison with 2020.

Exports from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan reached $800.3 million ($693.2 million – in 2020), and imports – $362.01 million ($98.1 million - 2020).
