BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 8. More than 66 million tons of raw steel and steel products were consumed in Iran, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2022), Trend reports via the report of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.
According to the report, a total of 74 million tons of raw steel and steel products were produced in the country in 8 months, about 90 percent of which was consumed within the country.
During 8 months, more than 21.1 million tons of raw steel were produced in the country.
Meanwhile, raw steel consumption in the country for the reporting period amounted to 16.5 million tons, which is an increase of 21 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
In addition, 4.5 million tons of raw steel were exported from Iran in 8 months.
At the same time, 8.65 million tons of long steel products were produced in the country in 8 months. Of this, 6.84 million tons were consumed within the country, which is 21 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year (5.65 million tons).
In 8 months, 6.1 million tons of flat steel were produced in Iran, of which 6.08 million tons were consumed domestically. The consumption increased by 11 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (5.5 million tons).
Overall, the volume of steel products produced in Iran for 8 months amounted to more than 14.7 million tons. Of this, about 13.2 million tons were consumed in the country, which is an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (11.3 million tons).
Furthermore, Iran produced 24.2 million tons of sponge iron in 8 months, of which 23.6 million tons were consumed in the country. Thus, the sponge iron consumption in Iran for eight months increased by 23 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (19.2 million tons).
