BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Azerbaijan will implement a leather production and processing project in Aghdam Industrial Park, using the capabilities of prospective cattle breeding facilities, a source familiar with the matter told Trend.
The total cost of the project is 3 million Azerbaijani manats or $1.76 million.
The project’s implementation is of great importance, since there is a brisk demand for final consumption goods in the domestic market and a small number of producers of the final product in the country. Moreover, leather has a high export potential.
The state support for the project will include customs and tax benefits for an industrial park resident, preferential loan and a ban on the export of unprocessed leather.
Taking into account that the residents of Kalbajar and Lachin districts are mainly engaged in animal husbandry, this type of activity is expected to further develop during/after the return of people to their lands.
