Iran’s domestic bus output drops

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Local bus production in Iran decreased by 22 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

Within 5 months, 331 buses were manufactured in Iran, as was reflected in the statistics of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.

Meanwhile in the first 5 months of the last Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), Iran’s local bus manufacturing stood at 424 units.

In the 5th month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), Iran produced 25 buses domestically. This is 55 percent less than in the same month last year.

So, 56 buses were produced in the country in the 5th month of the last Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2022).

Overall, 1,391 local buses were produced in Iran within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 88 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).

In total, 536,903 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were produced in Iran for the first five months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 27 percent compared to the same period last year.

There are three giant car manufacturing companies, Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
