Toyota posts best-ever October sales, up 13.6 percent

(autoinsidernews) - Toyota Motor continued its sales roll, reporting the automaker's best-ever October, with sales up 13.6 percent from October 2005. For the calendar-year-to-date, Toyota sales are up 12.2 percent over the same period last year.

The Toyota Division posted its best-ever October with sales up 14.6 percent. Toyota passenger cars were up 6.5 percent over the same period last year, with Toyota light truck sales up 27 percent, driven by the RAV4 with sales up 163.1 percent, reports Trend.

The Lexus Division also reported it best-ever October with sales up seven percent. Lexus passenger cars were up 27 percent, on the strength of the ES 350 (up 46.7 percent), and the IS 250 and IS 350 (up 40.6 percent). Lexus SUV sales were off 10.7 percent.

Scion reported October sales of 12,344 units. While the tC sports coupe led the way in October volume with 5,788 units, sales were off 9.9 percent. Scion xA and xB sales were up 2.1 and 1.3 percent respectively.
