Nissan unveils Bevel utility concept

(autoinsidenews) - Nissan unveiled its Bevel concept vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show. The Bevel is a multi-purpose vehicle, which Nissan says is designed to enhance every activity, every opportunity. What makes the Bevel unique is that unlike currently available sport utility vehicles, which emphasize passenger needs and comfort, the Bevel's focus is on the primary user вЂ" active male empty-nesters.

Designed at Nissan Design America, Inc. (NDA) in La Jolla, California, the Bevel Concept explores the future of the sport utility vehicle, and steps beyond the current stereotypes, reports Trend.

We see an opportunity to expand the range and values of the utility vehicle world, said Bruce Campbell, vice president design, NDA. In the future, we envision genres where each product will be more dedicated and more focused, with the vehicles being much closer to the multi-dimensional aspects of the target buyers.

The Bevel features a unique asymmetrical styling, in which form follows function. The driver's side features a single large door and the large window aids visibility. The driver's side rear body panel is solid, except for a narrow, horizontal upper window. The passenger side has two doors, with the rear door hinged at the rear to provide an opening of nearly five-and-a-half feet.
