(autoinsidernews) - Following GM's lead, Dodge could be working on a small rear-wheel drive roadster to take on the popular Mazda MX-5. According to the U.K.'s Autocar, insiders are confirming the car is under development, and the project is far enough along to be shown to the A-list media.
The source said that the Dodge roadster will be a clone of the Mazda MX-5 with styling cues from the Dodge Razor concept (shown) that was unveiled in 2002. A near-production ready concept is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. No word on a production date, reports Trend.
With cost-cutting at DaimlerChrysler, it doubtful that it will make it to the market, but who would have thought that GM would have built the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky.
