Ban on Import of Russian Poultry Products Imposed by State Veterinary Service of Azerbaijan

The State Veterinary Service of the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan imposed a temporary ban on the import of poultry products from Russia, Trend reports quoting the Veterinary Service.

The ban was imposed due to the discovery of the H5 virus near Moscow last week. Previously the ban had been imposed only for Krasnodar oblast of Russia.

Presently the same ban is also in force for Turkey, the same source stated.

To prevent the infiltration of the bird flu virus into the country, all frontier veterinary points are operating on medium security, the prohibition on hunting, sale and eating of wild birds in the Country still remains in force, as well as the import of poultry and poultry food into the country from those countries where the virus has been detected.
