Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Head of Administration of the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan, Samir Veliyev, said on 14May at the opening of the Korean Electronic Trade Centre in Azerbaijan that present cooperation between Azerbaijan and South Korea does not reflect the potential of economic development of the two countries. Last year Azerbaijani export to Korea amounted to $67-68 mln and Korean import into Azerbaijan - $46 mln.

"We would very much like to expand the number of the countries to export Azerbaijani products under the conditions of the development of the non-oil sector. From this point of view, opening the centre is one of the modern tools to achieve this goal, in this case with Korea. The centre will provide an opportunity to establish relations with Korean companies," Veliyev said. According to him, it is the first step and it is possible to hope that this practice will expand with regards to other countries in the future. "Up to now, small and medium enterprises of the two countries have not been informed of each other, but the center will make it possible to expand relations amongst them," said Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lew Kwang-chul.
