Russia to get Azerbaijani gas under contract in 2011

The average daily volume of gas exported by SOCAR to Russia is 6.6 million cubic meters, a source in SOCAR said. Gas supplies to Russia are carried out within the mid-term contract signed between SOCAR and the Russian Gazprom.
"Gas supplies to Russia are carried out on the basis of annual volumes," he said. "At present, they hit about 6.6 million cubic meters per day."

He said this year Russia intends to receive gas volumes provided for the current year at2 billion cubic meters.

SOCAR exported about 800 million cubic meters of gas to Russia within the contract in 2010.

The medium-term contract (with a possibility of extension) for the sale of Azerbaijani gas to Russia was signed between SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku on Oct. 14, 2009. According to the addendum to the contract signed in early September 2010 in Baku, Gazprom will receive two billion cubic meters in 2011, and over two billion cubic meters in 2012.
Supplies of Azerbaijani gas to Russia began from Jan. 1 last year.
