Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Sept. 8 / Trend H.Hasanov /
Turkmenistan, steadily developing the energy sector, systematically increases the volume of power exports, which is in great demand in the world markets, Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said in his adress to participants of the international exhibition-conference "Main directions of Turkmenistan's energy industry development" opened in Ashgabat on Thursday.
"Provision of the stable and reliable energy supplies to foreign consumers is one of our main goals," he said.
The Turkmen energy industry's potential has grown significantly due to the creation of powerful electrical substation in the short term and construction of new electro conductive system. This allowed the country to ensure all consumers in the country with power, as well as to export the Turkmen power to Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan.
Berdimuhammedov underscored that "the transnational power lines, with great economic and geopolitical importance, contribute to peace and stability in the region, as well as cooperation among the nations."
The country will soon carry out the radical reconstruction of power distribution systems, transformers and substations in small villages, towns and district centers.
He said the structure of the Turkmen Energy Sector includes the Mary and Seidi state power plants, as well as new powerful modern power plants built in Ashgabat, Balkanabat, Akhal, Lebap, Dashoguz and Avaza tourist zone.
Earlier Berdimuhammedov instructed the finalization of a draft General Program for the Turkmen Energy Sector Development for 2011-2020.
