SOCAR to increase gas stations in Georgia by late 2011

By late 2011, the number of gas stations in Georgia under the brand of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will hit 96-97 units, a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia (which represents SOCAR's interests in Georgia) told Trend on Wednesday.

He said today the number of SOCAR gas stations in Georgia has hit 80 units.

"The construction of new stations throughout Georgia is underway. By late 2011 their number will be about 96-97 units," the source said.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum is engaged in sales of Azerbaijani oil products in Georgia. It started its activity in 2006 and is SOCAR Energy Georgia's 100-percent owned subsidiary.

SOCAR has a number of gas stations in Azerbaijan. Gas stations are also gradually opening under the SOCAR brand in Ukraine. SOCAR is currently working to establish a network of gas stations in Romania.
