New president of World Petroleum Council elected

Brazilian Renato Tado Bertani is elected as the new president of the World Petroleum Council at a meeting of the WPC National Committees, Trend correspondent reports.

Members of the WPC Executive Committee were also elected at the meeting which has already completed. Renato Bertani will replace Canadian Randall Gossen for the next three years.

The meeting of WPC National Committees was held on the eve of the 20th Congress of the World Petroleum Council, which starts today in the capital of Qatar, Doha.

In addition, it was decided at the meeting to elect Astana as a venue for the next meeting of the Council of WPC.

On October 21, 2010, at the proposal of the Kazenergy Director General Dzhambulat Sarsenov that he made at a WPC Council meeting in Beijing, then-WPC president Randall Gossen announced that the next meeting of the Council will be held in Astana in early October 2012, within the VII Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY.
