The state concern Turkmenneft will launch a broad-scale exploration of northern Goturdepe field, located in the shallow waters of the Caspian Sea, in coming years, the official Turkmen source said.
Resources of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea are estimated at 12 billion tons of oil and 6.5 trillion cubic meters of gas.
The state concern started developing oil and gas fields here in February 2010. Exploratory wells were drilled and constructed here. The wells not only confirmed the predictions of local geologists and drillers, but also "exceeded all expectations."
At present the drilling of two exploration wells and two production wells is nearing completion. The wells discovered new pay zones, during testing of which a gushing flow of oil was obtained.
This is several times higher compared to the corresponding figures for the operated fields.
This issue was raised recently in the international oil and gas conference in Ashgabat. Chairman of the Turkmenneft state concern Annaguly Deryayev noted that the high volumes in the development of shallow part of the sea is due to the use of modern equipment and the use of high-efficiency technologies of dual completion.
It was also noted that the widespread introduction of dual methods of operation reduces the number of wells for field development, increase their productivity and, ultimately, improve technical and economic performance of oil, including, enhance of oil recovery.
Further development of the oil and gas industry will be implemented through the development of new areas of deep sediments of the unopened part of lower red bed, Miocene, Mesozoic existing fields using modern, advanced technology and equipment.
Significant work will be conducted in the areas of land Miesser, Akeser, Simler, Garadashly, West Korpeje located in Gogerendag Ekerem-zone of elevations of southwestern Turkmenistan.
Turkmenneft implements exploration and development of oil and gas fields, ensuring the creation of conditions for effective development in the field of oil and gas production, drilling of exploration and production wells.
Currently, the state concern operates for about three dozen fields, including more than 600 oil and oil and gas fields at different stages of development.
