Iran currently extracts some 7 billion cubic feet of natural gas from its Lavan gas field, which is located in south of the country, IRNA quoted Abbas Rajabkhani, an official at the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, as saying.
Four wells have been so far drilled in the gas field, one of which currently produces some 7bcf of natural gas, he added.
The gas field's in-situ reserves are estimated at 7 trillion cubic feet, he noted.
In October, Mohammad-Ali Dadvar, managing director of Lavan Oil Refining Company said some $100 million has been allocated to the expansion plan of Lavan Refinery.
He added that the sum is 10 percent of the total budget which is required to complete the expansion plan.
The refinery's daily crude oil refining capacity is planned to be increased from 30,000 barrels per day to 50,000 barrels per day.
It will also increase its gasoline output from 1.4 million liters per day to 2.8 million liters and its natural gas production from 80 tons per day to 220 tons per day by the end of autumn.
On September 21, Dadvar told the IRNA news agency that the refinery will start producing one million liters of jet fuel per day by the next two months.
