Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR took about 1.37 billion cubic meters of gas from underground storages during the gas withdrawal season in the country, the company told Trend Feb. 15.

Azerbaijan has two underground gas storages facilities, Kalmaz and Garadagh, maintained by SOCAR.

Some 722.93 million cubic meters out of the total volume of the withdrawn gas accounted for Garadagh, and 651.35 million cubic meters for Kalmaz, according to SOCAR.

Currently, the daily volume of gas withdrawal from the underground storages is about 17.9 million cubic meters.

"The residual volumes of gas in both storage facilities amount to about 2 billion cubic meters, 1.12 billion cubic meters of which account for Garadagh, and nearly 880.81 million cubic meters for Kalmaz," said the company.

Azerbaijan's underground storages have a capacity to keep over 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
