Energy ministries of Russia and Turkey will create the Working Group on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project implementation, RIA Novosti reported July 26.
Gazprom Management Committee Deputy Chairman Alexander Medvedev told journalists, that Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci during the meeting with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak confirmed interest in the implementation of this project.
"Turkish Minister of Economy raised the “Turkish Stream" issue and confirmed that Turkey is interested in implementing the project. It was agreed that the working group of the energy ministries of Russia and Turkey will be created in order to return the project to the implementation stage," Medvedev said.
The Turkish Stream project, which is meant to take the Russian gas to Turkey across the Black Sea, was suspended due to sharp deterioration of relations between Moscow and Ankara after the incident with downed Russian air bomber on the Turkish-Syrian border in November 2015.
On June 27 Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter to his Russian counterpart in which he expressed deep regret for the issue and expressed profound condolences to the family of the Russian pilot who was killed in the accident.
Two days later the two leaders held the first phone conversation in six months and agreed on the resumption of trade and economic cooperation.
