Iran seeks to supply gas to a number of villages - deputy minister

Work is currently underway to supply gas to 4,000 villages in Iran, Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hassan Montazer Torbati said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Torbati emphasized that work has been accelerated to supply these villages with gas as soon as possible.

The deputy minister added that 2,910 villages and 23 cities in Iran were supplied with gas in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). Thus, about 95 percent of Iran was supplied with gas.

“A total of 6,000 subscribers were registered in the industrial sector to be supplied gas in the last Iranian year. About 3,320 of them were industrial enterprises,” he said.

Iran consumed 233 billion cubic meters of gas in the last Iranian year. The natural gas consumption in Iran increased by 8 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).

So, 122 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed by housing, trade and small industrial facilities, 24 billion cubic meters by large industrial facilities and 66 billion cubic meters by power plants.
