BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Bulgargaz, the largest Bulgarian gas distribution company, will make the first delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Türkiye on April 13, Trend reports with reference to TurkicWorld.
According to the source, LNG supplies will be carried out within the agreement signed between Bulgargaz and the Turkish BOTAŞ Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS).
As the source noted, one of the conditions of the agreement signed between Türkiye and Bulgaria was that supplies should be implemented from countries that did not impose any sanctions, embargoes or trade restrictions.
Furthermore, the Bulgarian company has signed an agreement for a period of 13 years. The agreement was signed with the Turkish BOTAS on the import of natural gas through receiving terminals in Türkiye.
Earlier, Fatih Donmez, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, said that Bulgaria will receive about 1.5 bcm of gas per year, after which it will be possible to increase gas volumes.
According to the minister, gas will be supplied to the country via the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, which previously was used for Russian gas supplying to Türkiye via Bulgaria before the launch of the TurkStream (natural gas pipeline running from Russia to Türkiye).
Meanwhile, in April 2022, Gazprom (a Russian majority state-owned multinational energy corporation) cut off gas supplies to Bulgargaz due to the fact that the company refused to pay for the energy carrier in Russian rubles. In addition, Bulgaria reported in the springtime that they had found alternative sources of gas.
