BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. Italian Eni company has almost doubled energy production from renewables bringing it to 990 GWh in the first three months of 2023, as compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports with reference to the company.

The main driver of the increase were the acquired assets in operation and the launch of organic projects.

Eni’s latest report reveals that EV charging points as of March 31, 2023, stood at 14.7 thousand, doubling as compared to same period in 2022. Power sales in the open market were 5.16 TWh in the first three months of 2023, decreasing by 10 percent year-on-year. The lower volumes marketed particularly in the open market and to the power exchange were the main factors putting downward pressure on sales.

“In Q1 ’23 Plenitude reported an adjusted operating profit of €132 mln, a 5% decrease compared to Q1 ’22. The resilient performance was achieved thanks to a ramp-up in renewable installed capacity and production volumes that almost entirely offset a decrease of 35% in the electricity price scenario compared to the previous year,” the report says.

Eni received operating profit of €54 mln in the Power generation business from gas-fired plants, showing an increase of 17 percent or €8 mln compared to the same period in 2022. It was achieved thanks to optimizations and lower fuel expenses.

The company reported a 0.9 GW increase in installed capacity from renewables, bringing it to 2.3 GW, thanks to 2022-2023 investments (PLT Group and Fortore Energia in Italy, Cuevas in Spain and Kellam in the USA), organic development of Brazoria in the USA and Cerillares in Spain, as well as the realization of Assemini, Eni’s first storage energy site in Italy (14 MW).
