Azerbaijan Decision on Distribution of Shah Deniz Gas Based on National Interests
Elmar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, informed Trend exclusively that a resolution by Azerbaijan on the distribution of Shah Deniz gas was first of all, based on the national interests. Azerbaijan comes out from this position every time when defines its foreign policy.
As a result of talks in Tbilisi on December 8, the Ministers from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia decided to distribute Turkey share in the Shah Deniz gas (300mlnb cu m) for 2007 among three countries.
Since January 1, 2007 Gasprom increases gas prices for Georgia from $110 to $230 per 1,000 cu m. Georgia in talks with Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey for search of alternative gas sources.
