SOCAR to Drill Two Exploration Wells on Offshore Field

Oil&Gas Materials 12 February 2007 11:46 (UTC +04:00)

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan informed Trend that two more exploration wells will be drilled in the West Absheron field. The Absheron drilling rig involved in well drilling will be replaced. The new well will be 1.5 km away from previous wells.

Earlier SOCAR completed drilling two wells in this platform, with a depth of more than 800 meters. In addition, the drilling of exploitation pre-drilling wells completed with the drilling of rig Khazar-4. After completing their drilling, they will be conserved for the next production from the platform. The first platform will be established for connecting three drilled gas wells. They were drilled and conserved. The approximate withdrawal from the well is 250,000 cu m a day. This will facilitate a new method of production, gas lifting, as well as gas for domestic demand. This is the primary task.

There are plans to construct platforms for exploitation of wells with semi-submersible drilling rig Khazar-4. There were plans to drill six wells, but due to the great reserves and capacity of the stratums they will now drill 12. The average daily withdrawal is approximately 10 tons. Earlier, Khazar-4 rig drilled 6 wells on one of the points in the field. The appraisal of the fields revealed over 10mln tons of oil. The re-appraisal of reserves was carried out after the drilling.
