Money transfers value up in Kazakhstan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. A total of 5.4 million transfers worth 65.4 trillion tenge ($137.3 billion) were made via services of Kazakhstan National Bank's payment systems in July 2022, Trend reports with reference to the data of the bank.

This is 3.7 percent more in volume and 2.2 percent more in value compared to June 2022. On average, 267,600 transactions worth 3.3 trillion tenge ($6.9 billion) were carried out daily.

The volume of plastic cards issued in Kazakhstan amounted to 61.5 million cards as of August 1, 2022, and 50 percent of them were used in July 2022.

The volume of transactions via plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 782.5 million transactions worth 11 trillion tenge ($23.1 billion) in June 2022, which means an increase of 1.8 percent in volume and by 2.3 percent in value, compared to June 2022.

The share of non-cash payments made via cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 97.2 percent (760.6 million transactions) of the total non-cash transactions carried out. The share of non-cash transactions value stood at 83.2 percent (9.2 trillion tenge or $19.3 billion).

Furthermore, the total volume of funds sent via international systems of money transfers amounted to 0.28 million transfers worth 95.1 billion ($199.7 million) in July 2022, which is 19.7 percent less in value compared to June 2022.

Out of the total volume of transfers, 73.5 percent of total volume or 91.2 percent of total value (86.7 billion tenge or $182.1 million) accounted for transfers from Kazakhstan to other countries.

Some 26.5 percent of total volume (0.07 million) and 8.8 percent of total value (8.4 billion tenge or $17.6 million) accounted for transfers in Kazakhstan.

The remaining 0.17 million transfers worth 88.2 billion tenge ($185.2 million) accounted for transfers from other countries to Kazakhstan.
