BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 27. Payment card turnover through ATMs and POS terminals grew in Azerbaijan in August 2022, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, this figure totaled 5.23 billion manat ($3 billion), up by 2.19 billion manat ($1.28 billion), or 72 percent compared to 3 billion manat ($1.7 billion) in August 2021.
The total number of payment card transactions amounted to 57.6 million (growth of 93.48 percent over the year), out of which 4.46 million transactions worth 268 million manat ($157.6 million) were carried out abroad.
As many as 51.4 million debit card transactions worth 4.88 billion manat ($2.87 billion) have been carried out both within the country and abroad. Some 10.46 million transactions worth 2.5 billion manat ($1.4 billion) were carried out through ATMs within the country, whereas 15.2 million transactions worth 533 million manat ($313.5 million) – were through POS terminals.
Bank customers executed 6.19 million transactions for a total of 345 million manat ($202.9 million) via credit cards (both within the country and abroad).
Some 381,000 transactions worth 75 million manat ($44.11 million) were carried out through ATMs, while 3.38 million transactions worth 135 million manat ($79.4 million) – through POS terminals.
The number of payment cards in Azerbaijan increased by 2.35 million (22.94 percent) from January through August 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 (10.2 million), reaching 12.6 million.
