The shortage of skilled IT-specialists hinders the possibility of implementing Microsoft IT Academy Program at high schools in Azerbaijan, the head of the Microsoft Azerbaijan Teymur Akhundov said.
According to Akhundov, the IT-Academy Project is a real mechanism to provide opportunities for students to learn modern technology.

"To implement the Microsoft IT Academy Program, the high schools of Azerbaijan must fulfill certain requirements and one of the main conditions for obtaining the status of Microsoft IT Academy is the availability of trained IT-specialists. Unfortunately, we have faced with a shortage of qualified specialists in connection with which we considered two options - either to train them from our resources or involving trained specialists," said Akhundov.

Microsoft IT Academy Program is part of a whole range of activities undertaken by Microsoft in order to educate Azerbaijani schoolchildren and university students with high-quality knowledge on Microsoft products.
Microsoft IT Academy Program provides an opportunity to obtain professional knowledge and skills modern IT technologies and software products. Each course is a high training to pass the appropriate tests to obtain an international certificate.

Two levels of participation - Microsoft Office Specialist and IT Professional are proposed within Microsoft IT Academy program for educational institutions. Basic vocational training in such subjects as: technical support for desktop and laptop personal computers, administration of computer systems, networks and databases, development of applications and databases in different spheres are proposed at the level of IT Professional. Microsoft Office Specialist is provided for secondary schools.
