Azerbaijan created the AZ-CERT Computer Emergency Response Team to respond to computer incidents under an AzScienceNet project, the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' (ANAS) Institute of Information Technology (IIT) reported.
The AZ-CERT will provide a rapid response to, and gather information on incidents related to information security. It will also conduct research and analytical studies and cooperate with the relevant international bodies operating in the field.
The structure's establishment is carried out based on the Convention on Cybercrime.
To date, over 2,000 computers have joined AzScienceNet. Its users total 10,000.
The AzScienceNet Communications channel has a bandwidth of 71 Mbit / s and was leased from the Delta Telecom primary provider.
A network monitoring and information security service was created to ensure operational control and improve information security within the framework of the project.
AzScienceNet is protected with a centralized anti-spam and antivirus system. Today, integrated efforts are underway to expand its infrastructure, create a DATA-center, apply GRID services, Cloud Computing and Eduroam (Education Roaming), as well as to organize systems and video conferencing integration into the AzScienceNet global network.
