The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies is holding negotiations with France on launching the second satellite of Azerbaijan into orbit, Azerbaijani Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov said on Nov.26 at a press conference on the results of the meeting of the Azerbaijani-French economic commission.

"As is known, the French partners supported us in launching the first telecommunications satellite. This cooperation is continuing now and we hope that it will result with concrete contracts in the near future," the minister said.

Meanwhile, it is too early to speak about concrete dates, he said.

"I suppose, given that this sphere is very specific, firstly there will be worked out and approved a certain framework agreement between the two countries and then we will be able to speak about commercial contracts," Sharifov added.

The first satellite of Azerbaijan Azerspace-1 was launched by the French Arianespace from Kourou spaceport in French Guiana
