Azerbaijan improves broadband Internet ranking

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. The average download speeds for mobile and broadband Internet access in April 2023 amounted to 39.12 (0.86 percent lower compared to March) and 28.83 (an increase of 3.56 percent) Mbit/s, respectively, in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

According to Ookla, Azerbaijan has improved the indicator in terms of data transmission speed in the broadband network and moved from 118 to 116 positions among 180 countries.

The data download rate on the mobile network decreased by 0.34 Mbit/s in April compared to the previous month. The outgoing Internet speed over the mobile network was 11.24 Mbit/s, which is 8.5 percent lower in comparison with March (12.29 Mbit/s).

The data download speed over fixed broadband Internet access increased by 0.99 Mbit/s compared to March, and the outgoing speed was 29.59 Mbit/s (an increase of 0.49 Mbit/s).

The average speed of incoming and outgoing downloads over the mobile network was 42.07 and 10.33 Mbit/s, respectively, in the world during this period.

According to Ookla, Azerbaijan ranked 58th among 138 countries in terms of data download speed over mobile access and 116th among 180 countries in terms of data transmission speed over broadband Internet in April 2023.

Mobile internet speeds in Georgia are ranked 68th in the Ookla rating with an indicator of 31.84 Mbit/s, and Armenia is in 80th place (26.25 Mbit/s). The fastest mobile Internet in the world is recorded in Qatar with a data transfer rate of 189.98 Mbit/s, while the slowest is in Yemen (3.98 Mbit/s).
