Uzbekistan's Fergana Airport resumes international shipping

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2

By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

After a 17-year hiatus, the airport in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan has resumed international shipping, Trend reports the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.

A special headquarters was established in the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, which examined all applications from local entrepreneurs.

The main purpose of resuming the operation of the Fergana airport is to support and create favorable conditions for exports, the message said.

The Uz-Segang enterprise sent about 50 tons of cherries from Fergana airport to Incheon (South Korea), on June 1.

“During the meeting with representatives of exporting companies the issues of creating conditions for direct air cargo transportation from Fergana region were discussed, which, in turn, contributes to the prevention of difficulties arising in the process of transportation of fresh fruit from Fergana region to Tashkent International Airport through the Kamchik pass, as well as reducing transportation costs, which lead to higher prices for export products," the message of the ministry said.

For successful transportation of all goods, the international airport was provided with the necessary equipment.
