Iran suspends flights to Kabul until further notice - Iran Civil Aviation Organization

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 17

A spokesman for Iran Civil Aviation Organization said that the control system of Kabul Airport was cut off due to unrest at Kabul Airport and flights between Iran and Afghanistan were suspended until further notice.

“Air travel to Afghanistan is not possible,” Iran's CAO Spockesperson Mohammad Hassan Zibakhsh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Currently, both Kabul airport and the airspace of Afghanistan are closed,” he announced. "Mahan Airlines canceled its flights on the Tehran-Kabul and Mashhad-Kabul routes before Afghanistan`s announcement.”

Zibakhsh said that the flights will not be possible until stability and security return to Kabul.

According to IRNA, political developments in Afghanistan have led to an influx of people to Kabul Airport to leave the country.
