Azerbaijan records decrease in car sales for 8M2021

The number of car sales in Azerbaijan from January through August 2021 slightly decreased, Trend reports referring to Focus2Move, a global consulting agency specializing in the auto sector.

According to the agency, this indicator amounted to 2,671 cars, down by 59.5 percent and by seven percent compared to the first eight months of 2019 and 2020, respectively.

In August this year, 363 cars were sold in the Azerbaijani market, which is 35 cars or 10 percent below the August 2020 level.

Besides, according to the agency, Lada cars were mostly sold cars (1,234). This figure accounts for 46.2 percent of the total number of cars sold.

"Khazar vehicles reduced sales by 14 percent and Nissan vehicles by 58.8 percent," the agency said.

Earlier, in July 2021, car sales increased by 131 vehicles or 36.9 percent compared to the same month of last year and amounted to 356 cars.

"Some 882 cars were sold in Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2021, down 384 cars or 43.6 percent year on year. In the second quarter, car sales in the country increased by 702 cars (65.6 percent), compared to the second quarter of 2020, and reached 1,070 cars," added the agency.
