The number of passengers transported through Abadan International Airport in the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 8 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, a total of 200,480 passengers were transported via the airport in 8 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 185,222.

Over 8 months, 2,865 passenger planes took off and landed at the Abadan International Airport, which is an increase of 15 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the airport received 2,485 passenger planes in the same period last Iranian year.

“In addition, 2,178 tons of cargo were transported via the airport for the reporting period. Cargo transportation increased by 27 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure amounted to 1,712 tons in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Iran's Abadan International Airport is located on 383 hectares of land.
