BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. Azerbaijani "Zarifa Aliyeva" ferry boat has left on its first voyage, Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) CJSC told Trend.
According to the company, the ferry boat will deliver 37 heavy vehicles (TIRs), one truck and 20 cars to the Kazakh port of Kuryk.
The vessel having a length of 154.5 meters, a width of 17.7 meters and a height of 7.5 meters can carry 100 passengers, 56 rail tank cars or 50 trucks (TIRs).
It was commissioned on April 28 with the participation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. It’s expected to make a significant contribution to the expanding transportation of transit cargo across the Caspian Sea within the East-West transport corridor.
