BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. Azerbaijan's maritime transport handled cargo worth over $1.2 billion in 2022, which is 79.6 percent, or $570 million higher than in 2021, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.

During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transportation by sea exceeded 1.2 million tons, which is 34.8 percent or 423,151 more than in 2021.

The volume of export cargo transportation by sea decreased by 5.5 percent, or 241,950 tons in 2022, and totaled 53,302 tons worth $69.1 (a decrease of 53.4 percent or $79.2 million over the year).

Azerbaijani imports by the sea in the reporting period amounted to 1.163 million tons worth over $1.2 billion, which is 2.1 times or 49.254 million more than in 2021.

The cost of cargo transportation by all modes of transport amounted to more than $52.6 billion in 2022, including exports – about $38.1 billion, and imports – $14.5 billion.
