BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. Azerbaijan's Land Transport Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transportation continues measures towards the digitalization of provided services and ensuring digital transformation in this field, Trend reports.
The agency's data showed that under the law "On road transport", for domestic road cargo transportation, an electronic cargo waybill must be issued unless otherwise stipulated in the transportation contract.
Transportation of goods not authorized by this document is not allowed.
In this regard, rules have been established regarding the form, application, recording, and use of the electronic waybill.
The electronic cargo waybill, planned to be implemented within the agency's information system, envisions the digitization of documents used in cargo transportation.
Digitizing this document will enable resource savings by connecting the shipper, carrier, and receiver in a single electronic portal.
Creating the electronic cargo waybill will also offer ample opportunities to enhance transparency in the field of cargo transportation.
Currently, work is being finalized on the preparation of the electronic cargo transportation system. Integration with the relevant systems of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been ensured. Within the system, electronic payment options for transportation fees will be established.
Road cargo transportation in Azerbaijan amounted to 83.6 million tons from January through August 2023, which is 56.5 percent of the total volume of cargo transportation.
