Each of young rioters in Zhanaozen were given 20,000 tenge ($135) and made drunk by events instigators, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev told Khabar TV Channel during his working visit to Mangystau region, Kazinform reported.
Nazarbayev expressed condolences to the families of people killed in Zhanaozen and promised to punish perpetrators.
"We are seriously investigating this case and each death separately. We will search for organizers, no matter of their location. There will be the court, and the perpetrators will be punished," Nazarbayev said.
Mass disorders hit the Kazakh oil town of Zhanaozen in the Mangistau region on Dec.16 which killed 15 and injured about 100 people. President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree to impose a state of emergency in the region from Dec. 17 to Jan. 5.
