Newly appointed Kazakh ambassador to U.S. Kairat Umarov handed over his credentials to U.S. President Barack Obama, Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

Within the ceremony, Umarov on behalf of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated Obama, conveyed him the best wishes at the upcoming inauguration and invited him to visit Kazakhstan.

The parties emphasized the dynamic development of the strategic partnership between the two countries in a number of key areas.

President Obama also conveyed his best wishes to Kazakh President and expressed his willingness to continue to work together to strengthen global and regional security, as well as to develop bilateral cooperation.

Previous U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrisov was appointed as Kazakh Foreign Minister.
