Russian company Polymetal seeks to get the first gold-bearing ore from the Kyzyl project by late 2017 and launch a new enrichment plant in Kazakhstan.
The Kyzyl project covers the Bakyrchik and Bolshevik fields in the East Kazakhstan Region. Development of these fields in Zharma region is one of the major projects of the gold mining industry in Eastern Kazakhstan, the region's local government reports.
Gold reserves of the fields are estimated at 226 tons, with an average grade of 7.7 grams per ton. This is one of the best indicators in Kazakhstan.
Head of the region, Danial Akhmetov, visited the Bakyrchik Mining Enterprise LLP and got acquainted with the progress of construction and assembly works at the complex.
Under the Kyzyl project, it is planned to process 2 million tons of ore via flotation enrichment. Once the project reaches full capacity in 2019, the production of gold concentrate will be more than 10 tons.
In Kazakhstan, gold is mined both at indigenous gold ore deposits and, incidentally, as a component of polymetallic raw materials for the production of non-ferrous metals.
The largest gold mining facility in Kazakhstan is the Vasilkovskoye deposit, located 17 km north-west of the city of Kokshetau. The field's proven reserves are 370 tons of gold, with an average metal content of 2 grams per ton in ore.
