BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. Kazakhstan’s Almaty will require around 1.39 trillion Kazakh tenge ($3 billion) for the social infrastructure modernization before 2030, Tamara Zalogina, the city’s general plan developer said, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.
According to the developer, 46.6 percent of the investments need to be allocated to develop school and preschool education, while 27.3 percent of investments will go to healthcare infrastructure improvement.
Additionally, 9 percent of investments will enable the
construction of care homes and sports centers.
Zalogina also said that the population of the city is expected to
reach 2.5 million residents by 2030, 3 million people by 2040, and
approach 3.6 million by 2050.
Some 60 percent of population growth will be achieved mostly by mechanical growth, while the remaining share of 40 percent via natural growth.
To support the population growth, some 45.6 million square meters of living area need to be constructed.
The Almaty municipality presented the development plan for the city in September 2022. The program outlines the growth possibilities of the city until 2025, as well as analyzes the medium-term prospects until 2030.
