BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Healthcare signed a Memorandum of Understanding with “AstraZeneca”, a British-Swedish pharmaceutical company, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry.

The document was signed in the framework of the 9th meeting of the Kazakh-British intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.

“The signing of the Memorandum will contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Kazakhstan, including increasing the availability of innovative medicines, stimulating manufacturers to expand contract manufacturing of medicines at Kazakh production facilities”, the Vice Minister of Healthcare Timur Sultanqaziyev said.

He added that establishing cooperation with the leading pharmaceutical company will integrate the most efficient modern practices into the healthcare system of Kazakhstan.

AstraZeneca and Kazakh officials also discussed the possibility of assisting a British-Swedish pharmaceutical company in the localization of innovative drugs based on Kazakhstani production.

AstraZeneca is one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies. The pharmacological giant, headquartered in Cambridge, is focused on creating innovative medicines and improving access to them.
