ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 2. A total of 14.9 million tons of crude oil (118.9 million barrels) were extracted from Kazakhstan's Tengiz field in the first half of this year, Trend reports.
According to Tengizchevroil company, during the same period, the company also achieved sales of over 634,000 tons of liquefied gas, 469 million cubic meters of dry gas, and more than 1.4 million tons of sulfur. The Tengiz field, discovered in 1979, stands as one of the world's largest and deepest oil fields.
Tengizchevroil was established on April 6, 1993, based on an agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation.
Currently, the partners in Tengizchevroil are as follows: Chevron - 50 percent, KazMunayGas national company - 20 percent, ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc. - 25 percent, and LUKOIL - 5 percent.
The combined proven reserves of the Tengiz reservoir reach 3.1 billion tons (25 billion barrels), with an additional 200 million tons (1.6 billion barrels) in the Korolevskoye field. The extractable oil reserves of the Tengiz and Korolevskoye fields amount to 1.4 billion tons (11.5 billion barrels).
