ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 2. The assets of the banking sector of Kazakhstan amounted to 46.6 trillion tenge or $101.4 billion as of August 1, 2023, Trend reports.
The data of Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for regulation and development of the financial market shows that since the beginning of 2023, assets have grown by 4.5 percent or 2 trillion tenge ($4.4 billion).
Assets decreased slightly in July this year by 0.04 percent or 20 billion tenge (about $43.5 million), mainly due to a decrease in liquid assets by 2.7 percent.
Highly liquid assets amounted to 14 trillion tenge (about $30.5 billion) or 30 percent of assets, which allows banks to service their obligations to customers in full.
As of August 1, 2023, the banking sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan is represented by 21 second-tier banks, of which 11 are banks with foreign participation, including 8 subsidiary banks.
