ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 14. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has high expectations for the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor), Trend reports.

During a meeting with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the head of state stated that priority is given to expanding access to major Gulf markets and exploring new transit routes.

In addition, Tokayev urged Qatari companies to cooperate in the development of major infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.

To note, the Middle Corridor links the container rail freight transportation networks of China and the European Union through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and Eastern Europe.

Multilateral multimodal transportation infrastructure links ferry terminals in the Caspian and Black Seas with railway systems in China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.

The middle corridor facilitates increased cargo traffic from China to Türkiye, as well as to Europe and vice versa.
