(gazeta.kz) - A concept of sustainable development for 2007 - 2024 has been approved in Kazakhstan. A corresponding decree signed by Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, has been published in official media.
"The purpose of the concept is to reach a balance of social, economic, environmental, and political concepts of development of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a basis for improving the living standard and competitiveness of the country in the long term perspective," - the presidential administration commented, reports Trend.
The concept defines principles, priorities, directions, and mechanisms of the country's transfer to the sustainable development. "In particular, integration of resources, mechanisms, and development instruments should be provided… Diversification of the economy on the basis of innovation "breakthrough" technologies is to be implemented," - the document says.
"The implementation of the concept will raise the living standards to the level of the most competitive and developed world countries, increase efficiency of using resources as one of main mechanisms for the economic growth, increase the country's population to 18 million by 2024, increase the quality of labour resources, improve the environment at the expense of lowering man-caused pressure and resolve the "historical" environmental problems, strengthen sustainability of the regional development," - the presidential administration commented.
