President abolishes ban on public meetings during elections

(gazeta.kz) - Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, signed the law "On changes in the constitutional law 'On elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan'," the presidential press service reported.

"The law introduces changes related with the ban on public meetings during elections," - the press service specified, reports Trend.

In particular, the constitutional draft law suggests to exclude the item 6 of the article 44 stipulating that bans any forms of expressing public, collective, or personal interests and protests capable of influencing the voters or members of the election commissions from the final day of the voting to the day of announcement of the election's official results.

The parliament adopted the law "On changes in the constitutional law 'On elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan'" on November 24.
