BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. The current loan portfolio of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Kyrgyzstan is estimated at 173 million euros allocated for 75 active projects as of March 31, Trend reports via EBRD.
Of this portfolio, the majority (71 percent or 123 million euros) is allocated for sustainable infrastructure, 15 percent or 26 million euros - for industry, commerce and agriculture, and 14 percent or 24 million euro - for financial institutions.
According to the bank, cumulative EBRD investment in Kyrgyzstan totals 879 million euros for 211 projects.
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development invested 41 million euros in Kyrgyzstan in 2022, which is the second-largest amount of funding provided to the country over the last five years (46 million euros in 2019).
EBRD has been cooperating with Kyrgyzstan since 1992. The bank activities in the country focus on fostering sustainable growth, enabling SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), promoting the sustainability of public utilities, and strengthening the financial sector.
